  • Abstract
Anthropometric measurements, such as the waist circumference (WC) and waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), have been found significantly associated with the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). This paper presents an automatic method to measure anthropometric data based on three-dimensional reconstruction of the body surface in two steps. In the first step, we reconstruct the body surface from multi-view images. Sophisticated camera calibration algorithms are utilized in this step. Then, in the second step, we fit the contour of the predefined measurement line in the body surface using cubic splines and calculate the curve circumference. Our preliminary measurements on a child mannequin have shown that this method is accurate and feasible.
