Abstract
Describes a two-pole two-zero analog programmable equalizer which provides 0-19 dB boost at 100 MHz. It is used in a 100Base-TX Fast Ethernet transceiver application which supports a data rate of 100 Mb/s over 100 m CAT5 UPT cable. The Gm-C analog design technique is used, resulting in 100 MHz bandwidth. The equalizer provides a 2 V peak-to-peak differential signal swing from a single +5 V power supply, with total harmonic distortion measured at -40 dB. Implemented in a 0.35 μm CMOS technology, it occupies 0.34 mm2 of silicon area and consumes 150 mW using the single +5 V power supply
