Abstract
Modern service industry is a new concept of China. The research and definition on it have just been at the initial stage. This paper analyzed other scholars´ study of it by introducing the process of the development of this concept. On the basis of that, the paper gave a new definition of modern service industry. And according to the definition, the paper discussed the influencing factors of modern service industry, including outside environmental factors and internal factors. Because of the standard industrial classification and statistical criterion of China, the paper made empirical analysis by the time-series data of modern service industry over the past five years to approve the strength and direction of these factors, so as to provide theoretical and actual foundation for the further development of modern service industry.
