  • Abstract
    Demonstrates the generation of equal amplitude higher-order optical pulse trains in a rational harmonically mode-locked fibre ring laser using a novel technique which is based on modulator nonlinearity and optical filtering via intra-cavity Fabry-Perot etalon. The generated optical pulses exhibit a large suppression of supermode noise, a low amplitude noise of 0.5% and a timing jitter of 0.44 ps. The laser is tunable over a wavelength range of 1535-1565 nm.
