Abstract
The authors present an improved model for evaluating blocking probability in generalized connectors. The new model extends an earlier result to allow more flexibility in specifying traffic fanout characteristics and network routing algorithms. Included as special cases are both the previous model and Pippenger´s (1975) exact model for blocking in connectors. Equations are derived for computing the blocking probability for the class of series-parallel networks. They investigate the accuracy of the approximation by comparing the blocking probability computed using the equations with measured simulation data
