  • Abstract
A significant performance increase for combustion engines is obtained by utilizing exhaust gas supercharging. Since the boost pressure depends on the exhaust gas flow, it is possible to control the boost pressure by influencing this flow with a bypass valve (waste gate) installed in the exhaust system. The knock and boost pressure control system is calibrated so that the permitted knock frequency for each cylinder is not exceeded. To compensate for long-term shifts and changing ambient conditions, both systems are equipped with a self adaptive memory
