Abstract
This paper presents the empirical analysis and research on the regional difference of urban residents´ consumption structure in china based on generalized main composition and clustering analysis. First introduces 8 resident´s urban consumptive indices from 31 provinces and cities to the log ratio analysis which is one of the generalized main compositions in order to bring out a comprehensive index noted as the consumption rate, and then apply it in the cluster analysis combined with the per capita disposable income (PCDI) of each region. Research indicates that our 31 provinces and cities can be divided into five classes, the first class is the country´s political, economic and cultural center as Beijing and Shanghai, the second class is the Eastern coastal areas which is labeled as developed regions, the others is the Middle and Western areas.
