Abstract
Edge extraction in tobacco leaf images is the key step of tobacco leaf inspection by computer. In order to detect edge and keep detail texture information such as vein, the original tobacco leaf images obtained by a CCD camera are processed by a membership function at first. Then a fuzzy mathematical morphology algorithm is used to detect the edge. Efficiency of edge detection based on the fuzzy mathematic morphology is proved by comparing with the results of the other algorithms under different conditions.
