  • Abstract
Empirical analysis of development potentials is presented based on resource allocation for China´s container terminals. First, resources allocation for container terminal operations is defined and cluster analysis index system is built for evaluating development potentials of container terminal. Secondly, on the basis of real information of resources allocation collected for China´s coastal container terminal through survey, data processing is implemented via hierarchical clustering and iterative clustering methodology. Finally, development potentials for China´s container terminals are evaluated in accordance with the results of clustering. The research can provide a useful tool to evaluate development potentials and make special suggestions for the development for the different coastal ports and provide the decision-making support for port management and planning.
