  • Abstract
    A single layer printed compact antenna for X band application is proposed. The proposed antenna, having a total size of 30 × 22 mm, consists of a patch fed by a Microstrip line and a partial ground plane. The slot on patch and the modified ground plane with semielliptical shaped slots on its top edge helps to increase the bandwidth of the proposed antenna. The double-sided printed antenna has a bandwidth (VSWR ≤ 1.5) from 6.4 to 13.6 GHz and a maximum gain of 5.9 dBi. Antenna radiation patterns show stable variation within its operating band.
