  • Abstract
This paper describes a new control strategy for improving power quality. A Power quality problem is occurred due to the nonlinear loads which result in the non standard voltage, non sinusoidal current and fluctuation in frequency that cause malfunction of the load side equipments which in turn results in the financial losses for the industrial loads and domestic loads. The HYBRID energy system which is the combination of both Photo Voltaic (PV) cell and wind energy system connected to grid is used to improve the Power Quality. The four leg inverter that acts as Active Power Filter (APF) is given dc supply from the above discussed RES. In this paper a novel control strategy is used. The 3-phase, 4-wire Active Power Filter (APF) can be used in 2-types, 1). The APF is used as power converter to supply the power generated from the RES to the grid. 2).The APF to compensate the current, voltage harmonics of the system. The proposes system is simulates in MATLAB/SIMULINK package and results are shown under linear balanced, unbalanced and Nonlinear balanced, unbalanced loads.
