  • Abstract
    A consequence of distribution system reconfiguration is the opportunity to re-evaluate current practice in regard to distribution transformer protection and this had lead to trials into MV/LV transformer zone protection by means of MV full range fuses mounted in cable boxes. This paper reviews past and present convention in respect to distribution transformer protection and describes how SF6 fuse technology has been advanced to enable development of a new generation of self protecting transformers
