Abstract
To solve uneven distribution of load currents and thermal stresses among the paralleled power modules, a load share controller IC was proposed. By using the automatic master-slave control and the startup and adjustment control strategy, load current sharing among the paralleled modules was achieved. In addition, under-voltage detecting, load share bus short circuit prevention and fault protection were available for its use. The simulated and measured results showed that the control strategies were performed successfully. The load share error could be controlled within 1% and the system transient response was fast. After the optimization of its system, circuit and layout design, the IC was realized in 1.5mum BCD (bipolar-CMOS-DMOS) technology with an area of 3.6mm2
