Abstract
Stacked microstrip antennas have been widely used in many areas due to their wideband and other intrinsic advantages. Also, a number of computational approaches have been developed for analysis of the stacked microstrip antennas. Most of the analyses which are based on the full wave treatment deal with the characterization of the input impedance. In the present paper, the developed technique is applied to analyse the far field patterns of the stacked microstrip patch antenna. The analysis based on the spectral domain technique, makes use of the equivalence principle and the dyadic Green´s functions of the electric field in different layers for predicting the radiating patterns. Some practical antennas were built. Experimental results are presented to verify the numerical results.
