Abstract
This paper describes the various aspects of safety and performance of a specific commercial infant incubator and its compliance with the set requirements and regulations according to IEC 601-1 and IEC 601-2-19. The qualitative and the quantitative tests of electrical safety have been carried out. In the electrical test, the grounding resistance, leakage current, line voltage, temperature control, and the safety of thermostat were tested for their compliance with the IEC 601/BS5724. The methodology and equipment employed for the compliance tests are also discussed.
