Abstract
The paper presents a technique for transfer matrix synthesis of two-dimensional orthogonal systems. It is an attempt to extend so-called embedding to the two-dimensional case. Separable and nonseparable transfer function cases are discussed. Presented solution is based on the positive answer to the Hilbert´s 17th problem and the modified version of the quadratic form representation applied to two-dimensional polynomials. A simple example is given to illustrate the method.
