  • Abstract
A method for trajectory-specific model reduction for linear time invariant systems is proposed. It is a generalization of Moore´s balanced truncation, in the sense that it allows signals other than unit impulses to be used to describe which subspace is “important” for model reduction purposes. The model reduction aim is to obtain a reduced order model which better approximates the original one over a user-specified class of input trajectories. It is shown that the proposed method is related to frequency weighted balanced truncation. The stability of the reduced system is proved
