Abstract
Summary from only given. We discuss an experimental realization of the photonic crystal DFB laser concept using an antimonide W active region that emitted at wavelengths near 4.6 /spl mu/m. A second-order rectangular grating was defined by optical lithography and oriented at 20/spl deg/ with respect to the facet normal and had circular features with a diameter equal to 67% of the shorter period (1.49 /spl mu/m).
