Abstract
In this paper a new spatial interpolation method is presented to deal with packet loss in transmission of compressed image data. The reconstruction process follows the steps as below. Firstly, the edge information of lost block is coarsely inferred using the intact pixels around the lost block. A NBP (nearest border prior) method is applied to the area with no edge information detected. To the areas where edge is detected, an adaptive directional interpolation is used to restore the lost block. Experiments show that the missing area can be restored with the edge effectively preserved.
