Abstract
Perceptual grouping is an important phase in image processing for object recognition. When primitive objects are grouped, a measure of certainty of the group is useful both in deciding which of competing groupings to make and in recognizing objects by matching models to the eventual groups. Fuzzy measures are a useful form for describing certainty in grouping. In this paper, we derive three fuzzy measures for primitive grouping, and discuss the extension to fuzzy measures for hierarchical grouping
