Abstract
This paper is mainly concerned with the application of symbolic algebra tools to the dyadic state-feedback pole assignment problem. In particular, it is shown that the mapping approach, which is considered to be numerically unstable, performs better than the other known pole assignment methods under a symbolic algebra environment. This has an immediate impact on the selection of a suitable algorithm for the general state-feedback pole assignment problem
