Abstract
In normal practice, electromechanical devices typically only use magnetic field forces. However, it is not commonly known ´why´ this is so or what other electromechanical force production methods may be applicable or even superior for a given application. This paper reviews the major methods of electromechanical force production and gives a relative comparison of the electromechanical stress (force per unit area) that they can produce.
