Abstract
Test results show that flux skin effect increase the harmonic currents of thyristor controlled reactor (TCR). In previous works, the inductance of TCR was assumed constant, however, because of the flux skin effect the TCR inductance decreases with the frequency. In this paper, the harmonic currents of TCR are calculated with consideration the flux skin effect. Moreover a correction is presented for the conventional formulations of TCR harmonic currents to include the flux skin effect.
