Abstract
A circular loop antenna printed on grounded dielectric substrate with another layer of superstrate was analysed in this paper. The research focused on the effects of the superstrate layer on the far field components of the antenna. The far zone characteristics were derived using stationary phase method. Computation of the far field region incorporates the current distribution of the antenna solved by a numerical technique known as Moment Method by applying the curved piecewise sinusoidal functions for both the expansion and the testing functions. Thin wire approximation was applied throughout the research. The radiation efficiency and z-directed power gain were computed as a function of superstrate thickness for various loop resonances.
