Abstract
Ambient Networks propose the concept of network composition for providing dynamic and instant resource access for roaming users. policy-based management (PBM) is a good candidate for a service management platform in such scenarios. However, PBM infrastructures for large-scale service management in 3G/4G environments are still to be developed. This paper presents a prototype implementation of a PBM approach for network composition that uses a tree-based information model mapped on a peer-to-peer storage mechanism. A preliminary, measurement-based performance analysis of the prototype is presented along with a discussion on the strategies used, their benefits and pitfalls.
