Abstract
The paper describes two techniques for ensuring reliable switching system operation and minimizing the effects of faults. One is partial initialization, which resets only the faulty processing. Protection against cases in which partial initialization does not work is also mentioned. The other technique is call saving by means of speech path memory, that is a function for saving calls by reconstructing call data in software from speech path memory when call data is corrupted. This call saving method, which does not use call data in software, is also applicable to call saving in file update operations
