Abstract
A differential detection scheme for transmit diversity was proposed recently which can achieve full diversity without the requirement to estimate the channel state at the receiver (see Tarokh, V. and Jafarkhani, H., IEEE J. Select. Areas Commun., vol.18, no.7, p.1169-74, 2000). We investigate the effect of the carrier frequency offset on the performance of the transmit diversity scheme with differential encoding and present some results on its maximal tolerable frequency offsets for different MPSK signals. The results show that differential encoding transmit diversity is very robust to the frequency offset and is very available in practice.
