Abstract
Multi-hop relaying helps to improve the connectivity in wireless networks at the price of additional signaling overhead. In this paper, an ultra-low power wake-up radio is proposed to minimize signaling overhead and to build up energy-aware relaying route for low power applications. Protocol details are explained and energy consumption model is analyzed. The proposed scheme is compared with main radio routing and direct link communication. Results show that the proposed scheme brings significant improvement on connectivity. For data communication, with much lower signaling overhead, comparable energy efficiency is achieved as main radio routing.
