Abstract
Freeway network´s evolution is modeled based on complex network theory. First, a bi-level traffic complex network model is devised, whose upper is the weighted travel demands network and belower is freeway network. Second, evolution law of the bi-level traffic network is suggested: 1) Attachment law of travel network is strength driven while evolution of freeway network obeys to the rule of strength driven attachment and investment scale. These laws can avoid conflicts of attachment principle and utility principle. 2) Freeway network is driven by travel network based on the rule of link weight coupling while it has impacts on travel network´s evolution. Finally, a freeway network´ evolution process is simulated based on the bi-level traffic network to illustrate its effectiveness.
