  • Abstract
    License plate recognition system (LPRS) is the key technology of intelligent transportation system (ITS), which makes great importance in transportation management. In this paper, we designed and realized a real time embedded LPR system based on digital signal processor (DSP) and field programmable gates array (FPGA).With the advantage of high speed, high stability, small size, and lower power requirement, this system has the function including the collection, transportation and recognition of license plate image. This paper introduces some modules in LPRS detailedly, including Video input module, DSP module and FPGA module. After simulation and a number of experiments, it is testified that this LPRS gets a better performance and practicability.
