  • Abstract
In this paper, we investigate the influence of channel mismatch errors on the performance of multi-band OFDM (MB-OFDM) UWB systems according to different schemes of constellation mapping. The accuracy in the identification of time-invariant channel is limited either by errors in channel estimation or by noise. A model to analyze the effect of these factors is presented, from which the formula for bit error rate (BER) as a function of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is derived. We also analyze the channel estimation based on block-type training sequence and comb-type pilots with linear interpolation, as shown by simulation that the comb-type estimator with appropriate pilot arrangement can achieve better performance than block-type estimator for the typical UWB indoor channel which exhibits low frequency selectivity relatively
