Abstract
The author describes the millimeter-wave spectrum and possible applications at 60 GHz. There are three major communication applications at 60 GHz which might be possible: short range portable communication systems, point-to-point communication systems and intersatellite links. Some narrowband propagation measurements taken within buildings for indoor communications using phased-locked oscillators are presented. The propagation measurements indicated that the signal coverage at 60 GHz could be improved by careful location of the radio distribution points and by choosing suitable types of antennas and radiated power levels. Suitable placement of the fixed radio base station can provide reasonable signal coverage
