  • Abstract
Working under high thermal conditions represents serious health risks. As such, there are regulatory norms about the time of resting and exposure to these extreme conditions that workers must follow. The application of these norms requires continuous surveillance on environmental physical parameters such as temperature, humidity, or exposition time per individual worker, which is currently done by hand. The usage of a scarce-resources wireless sensor network (srWSN) composed by mobile nodes ported by workers may fulfill this requirement, and offers other advantages with respect to conventional equipment, such as: automation in data gathering, reconfiguration capabilities, mobility, unobtrusive handling and coexistence with other technologies. We have implemented a srWSN and performed some experiments on its application.
