Abstract
In a mobile ad hoc network, the behavior of nodes is always characterized by group features, such as group mobility and communication in group. We propose a localized topology control algorithm, named group aware topology control (GATC), which takes the group features into consideration, and improves the connectivity of nodes in the same group. The structure derived from our algorithm, called GAG-f, is a connected power spanner, and its network capacity and intra-group connectivity can be adjusted through a parameter f. The simulation result also indicates that GATC could construct a topology to improve group connectivity according to the parameter f
