Abstract
In this paper, the investigation results of a novel psi-shape microstrip patch antenna is presented which shows impedance bandwidths leading to 60%. For the ease in microstrip antenna fabrication purpose which includes a co-axial probe soldering on the patch, a thin microwave substrate has been selected supported by a foam substrate on top of the ground, which makes it suitable for the most practical wireless communication applications. The initial simulation results were carried out using Ensemble 5.1. Further investigation results were carried out using the Ansoft Corporation´s finite-element- method (FEM) based program high frequency structure simulator (HFSS) version 10.
