Abstract
In some specific wireless sensor network (WSN) applications, multi-sinks support is absolutely necessary in protocol stack, especially in routing layer, for energy efficiency concern. Distributed multicasting technology is the most energy-efficient way to cope with this problem in nature. However, the traditional multicast tree structures usually require a global routing substructure, link state or distance vector, etc, which is beyond the capacity of WSN. So in this paper, we present a new light-weight distributed multicast routing protocol schema, termed DMRPS, to dynamically build and maintain routing trees between sources and sinks. And besides these, there is no any multicast session state information stored at those nodes. The primary simulation result shows that it performs well, especially for numbers of grouped sinks
