Abstract
The advent of PWM drives utilizing IGBT (insulated gate bipolar transistor) technology has made the selection of the interconnecting power cable between the drive and its load an important decision. Motor bearing currents, the reflected voltage wave and EMI shielding have become areas of concern in the PWM drive system. Based on previous literature, a power cable with a high conductivity and a continuously welded and corrugated aluminum sheath is most advantageous. This paper emphasizes the worthiness of this type of armored cable
