  • Abstract
    This paper presents the complete design process of a universal electronic control unit (UECU32), based on substantial experiences and applications. The UECU32 is a kind of high-performance ECU that can be redeveloped for rapid prototyping. It covers most functions of automotive ECU, in which all kinds of input/output functions of the control unit comes from the demands of compression ignition engine, spark ignition engine and multi-fuel engine, and also the unit provides an efficient platform for research of automotive electronic control. Furthermore, the paper describes the design of system software, diagnose-communication software as well as application software of engine control for UECU32. Experiments were done on a 6106 diesel engine with common-rail fuel injection system. The results validate the feasibility of the control system based on UECU32
