  • Abstract
RFID technology has fast been noticed and studied at full length in many fields [K. Finkenzeller, 1999]. Antenna is important in communication between reader/writer and RFID tag. Broadband antenna becomes necessary when reader/writer performs parallel communication with many tags by means of various frequencies or broadband communication with tags. On the other hand, fractal antenna has been under research. The fractal antenna based on the Sierpinski gasket operates as a multi-band antenna [C. Puente et al., 1996]. The conductor loss in a thin part is anxious from the viewpoint of practical use. The dipole antenna composed of perturbed Sierpinski carpet operates as a broadband antenna [T. Kimoto et al., 2004]. Sierpinski gasket and carpet have the shapes of the self-similarity with two-dimensional expansion. To obtain a multi-band or the broadband antenna, we have been examining the fractal antenna based on one dimensional Cantor set [Heinz-Otto et al., 1992]. We are studying the broadband antenna by using FDTD simulation [A. Taflove and S.C. Hagness, 2000] and experiment. Proposed is a broadband antenna with a simple fractal-like structure.
