Abstract
We have been studying the breakdown characteristic of air-polymer composite insulation due to partial discharge (PD) under repetitive pulse voltage application using needle-plane electrode system. The purpose of this study is to clarify the effect of varied humidity on threshold frequency at the breakdown air polymer composite insulation caused by partial discharge in air gap. The result showed that the threshold frequency shifted to low frequency by the increase of relative humidity. The observation results using thermograph showed that the surface temperature at the higher relative humidity with increasing frequency of pulse more early dissipated.
