  • Abstract
TDD (time division duplex) duplexing technique is the most common option for the existing and upcoming WiMAX deployments. A WiMAX TDD frame contains one downlink subframe and one uplink subframe, the capacity allocated to each subframe is a system parameter that should be determined based on the expected traffic conditions. Typically, the load in downlink is higher compared to uplink, hence the downlink subframe is expected to have a longer duration. The split between downlink and uplink subframes may be decided once, based on average statistic expectations of the traffic behavior, setting the system accordingly. However, it is also possible that through real-time monitoring, the system itself may adapt the uplink and downlink boundary to the current traffic conditions. we propose a basic framework to support size allocation of the downlink and uplink subframes. This could be used to plug in vendor specific algorithms and evaluate the network performance by changing frame by frame the uplink and downlink partitions.
