  • Abstract
    Cost management has become one of the critical problems in construction management, for China will become one of the biggest construction markets with a huge number of investments these years, while the actuality of cost management is merely efficient. Therefore, it is of great practical significance to study on a new cost management paradigm. To begin with, drawbacks of current cost management in construction project are analyzed. The current cost management in practical construction management is mostly limited to quantity measurement and valuation, and is implemented by different entities in different phrases separately, which goes against a good transmission and integration of the cost information, and that probably leads to a poor cost control effect. Then, the theoretical mechanism of Whole Process Cost Management is discussed, and the Business Process Reengineering Theory is studied following. The Business Process Reengineering is adopted as the theoretical tool to achieve the efficient cost management during the whole process. Based on these, the business process is reengineered for the Whole Process Cost Management. Finally, the support system for it is established to provide organization, information and technology support for the seek of minimizing the total cost of construction projects.
