Abstract
Prince Edward Island is a region that has historically failed to achieve goals of economic development Questions of how Prince Edward Island can implement economic development leading to the Island´s prosperity persist. The Island has a strong identity and cultural assets which include social cohesion, ethics and political institutions as well as a sense of place. These assets can not only help bring about economic changes but they can also influence what kinds of policies will be used to bring about these changes so that jurisdictional power can be increased leading to appropriate economic development that brings prosperity and enhances the Island´s identity.
