  • Abstract
A new double-UT tag antenna in UHF band is proposed by adding a double-U patch to a double-T antenna in order to obtain wideband performance. The original double-T antenna presents 80 MHz bandwidth under the condition of voltage standing wave ratio less than 2 (VSWR<2). Meanwhile, the new antenna shows bandwidth of 102 MHz (VSWR<2), with dimension of 89.2 mm times 29.0 mm, 1.93 dBi gain and 84deg half-power beamwidth (HPBW). The equivalent circuit is presented to explain the working principle of the double-UT tag antenna. The equivalent circuit model results and the Electromagnetic ( EM ) simulated results agree well. By tuning the double-T matching network, the new type antenna can be matched to different RFID chips.
