Abstract
A new plant module combusts at approximately 1150degC temperature 180 metric tons of municipal solid waste and generates a minimum of 144 MWh (megawatt hours) of electricity, as well as 912,000 liters of potable water a day. The waste-processing and electricity generation new pilot plant comprises: 4 waste-processing furnaces (reactors) with the capacity 2.5 tons of waste per hour each; gas turbine power plant including two 4 MW (each) gas turbine sets, boiler-utilizers and one 3.5 MW steam turbine; waste intake, homogenization, short-term storage, compacting and charging system; gas purification system, compressor station and gasholders for gas storage, electric substation for interfacing with external power system, and metal and slag recycle systems. The plant also includes an automatic control system, auxiliary and administrative facilities. Fast, computer-aided fault finding of inverter-fed induction pump motors reduces the cost and ensures smooth operation of plant.
