Abstract
A pole arcs design method of 8/6 switched reluctance machine for torque ripple minimization is presented. The length of pole arc is limited by turn-on angle, turn-off angle and other parameters. With those constraints, the successive positive torque is maintained and negative torque is eliminated. Advanced turn-off angle is used to reduce torque ripple during phase commutation. Optimal turn-on and turn-off angles and range of rotor pole arc are formulated in this paper. Transient finite element analysis with power circuit has been carried out. It has been verified by simulation results that the proposed design scheme is feasible and can be implemented in practical design.
