  • Abstract
The performance of a recently proposed efficient antijam communication system is examined. The system employs frequency-hopping (FH), MFSK, (M-ary frequency-shift-keying) modulation, diversity, Reed-Solomon (RS) coding, and parallel error-erasure-correction decoding. The performance of the system in multitone (MT) jamming is evaluated by use of an exact method rather than a bounding technique. It is shown that, from the jammer´s point of view, in worst-case jamming, MT jamming tends to be more effective than PBN (partial-band-noise) jamming for nonbinary FSK, when the redundancy of the system is not large. If a large redundancy can be provided by diversity and RS coding, MT jamming can be nullified by a properly designed system. The optimum design of the system in worst-case jamming is presented in terms of the combination of MFSK, diversity, and RS coding for both high- and low-redundancy systems. It is shown that 4-ary FSK is the preferred signaling
