Abstract
This paper reviews developments in wind turbine drive train. Different critical subjects that affect and aid efficient use of the wind turbine drive train were discussed. Comparison was also made on different wind generator systems as they also determine the choice of drive train. The means of comparison were control features, strength, efficiency, market penetration etc. The introductory section portrays the wind energy source as a preferred alternative power source to thermal or diesel source because it is an environmental friendly and safe energy source. The review covers experimental contributions, numerical solutions and the development of models.
