Abstract
Localization of sensor nodes is a challenging and crucial issue in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), and high precision algorithms become the research direction. In this paper, an improved multidimensional scaling (MDS) localization algorithm for WSNs is presented. Unknown nodes are classified by its number of direct path to any three of those anchors. The more the number of direct paths, the more accurate the position calculation of unknown nodes. Thus the nodes with high accuracy firstly are calculated, and then the nodes of relatively low accuracy are computed by the calculated nodes and anchors. Simulation results show that the proposed localization algorithm achieves better accuracy.
