Abstract
Summary form only given, as follows. Amplitude modulation reflectometry is one of the most recent methods to study density profiles and fluctuations. It offers many advantages over the traditional frequency sweeping scheme, such as noise immunity, fast response and simplicity. A one-channel AM reflectometry system has been designed for the MST RFP. The design features a broadband low sensitivity receiver, phase detector and 150 mW 24 GHz transmitter working in the double side band modulation regime. Such an arrangement is unusual for reflectometry where high sensitivity receivers are mostly used, but is very stable in performance and is capable of being easily modified. Reflectometry data is compared with density profiles obtained from 11 channel far infrared interferometer measurements.
